Your switchboard decides the charger
Your board and your incoming supply decide what the house can run while the oven, the aircon and the hot water are going. That decides which charger makes sense, so it’s where we start.
A photo of your meter box and your board shows us roughly how old the board is, whether there’s spare capacity, and whether you’re on single or three phase.
Choosing the charger
You don’t need one picked out. We can supply one chosen for your board, your supply and how far you drive, and tell you which and why.
Most homes don’t need the biggest one. Unless you drive long distances every day or run two EVs, the larger three-phase option mostly means the car finishes charging earlier in the night, while you’re asleep anyway.

Set to your Synergy plan
In WA, the cheapest time to charge depends on your Synergy plan. On some time-of-use plans it’s the middle of the day, on others it’s overnight. Charging in the wrong window costs you every time you plug in.
We set the charger’s timer to the plan you’re on, and show you how to change it if you switch.
If your board needs work first
Some boards can take a charger as they are. Others need safety switches added, or replacing. If yours needs work, it’s a separate line on the quote, so you can see what’s charger and what’s house. That part is quoted like any of our switchboard upgrades.

Questions we get asked
- Do you work in my area?
- We’re based in Lakelands, WA 6180, and work across surrounding areas within 35 kilometres, including Meadow Springs, Mandurah, Baldivis and Rockingham. If you’re further out, you can still get a quote. We’ll tell you up front if there’s a travel fee.
- Can I just plug into a normal powerpoint?
- You can, and plenty of people do. It’s slow, and a standard outlet and its circuit weren’t designed to run near capacity for hours every night. If you only drive a short way each day it may be fine for a while. If you drive further, or the garage circuit is already getting warm, it isn’t.
- Do I need three phase?
- Usually not. It depends on your supply, your board and how much you drive. Send a photo of your meter box and we’ll tell you what you’ve got.
- My car is months away. Is it too early to ask?
- No. Knowing what your board can carry tells you whether charging at home is a simple job or a bigger one, and it’s better to know that before the car arrives than the week it does.
- The dealer has an installer. Why use you?
- We’re local, you get the price in writing first, and the quote match applies to their number as much as anyone else’s.
